The Volunteer Army are the player's forces in the game Legend of Ogre Battle Gaiden: Prince of Zenobia.
After the invasion and conquering of the Former Xenobian Kingdom by the Sacred Xytegenian Empire, the high number of refugees and unemployed soldiers led to a sharp increase of bandit activity in the country's rural areas. In an attempt to bring peace and order back to the countryside, an armed force of volunteers was started by the former knight of Xenobia Estrada, and his two pupils, Tristan and Cain.
The army's ranks grew with each victory, drawing members from all social standings of Xenobia and the northern Lihitfross Kingdom.
