Varlet (ヴァリット), is a special class exclusive to Cain in Legend of Ogre Battle Gaiden: Prince of Zenobia.
Cain cannot be moved from Tristan's unit. He can use physical attacks if put in the front row, but excels in the back, where he casts elemental magic. His magic set covers all elements except for Holy. However, Nana, another character permanent to Tristan's unit, casts Holy magic anyway.
The Varlet class has three tiers, each bringing an improvement to attacks and stat growth. Promotion happens at fixed points in the story.

Varlet 1 is Cain's class for Stage 1. It only contains a rudimentary moveset.

Trivia[]
- Varlet, is an archaic term for a young male servant or assistant, usually to a knight, or someone of noble status. The name of the class simultaneously alludes to Cain's unwavering loyalty to Tristan, and the latter's royal lineage. It's also appropriate given Cain's apprenticeship under Estrada, the former Xenobian Knight.
