Ogre Battle Saga Wiki

Uruks are a non-playable race in Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together. Their description states "dark magic created this orc-human crossbreed. Superior in both strength and intellect to its forebears." Unlike other orcs, Uruks always have the class "Uruk" and cannot be recruited. Like many enemy exclusive classes, they have a bright colorscheme, blue in this state. They effectively as an enemy variant of the Juggernaut class and classmarks can be stolen or dropped off them. They are typically found in the lower levels of the Palace of the Dead.

Etymology[]

The word "Uruk" originally comes from the name of an ancient Sumerian city; at its height in 2900 B.C., it is thought to have been the largest city in the world.

The likely source of the name used in Tactics Ogre is J.R.R. Tolkein's word "Uruk," used in the Black Speech of Mordor to describe orcs, and "Uruk-hai," or "Orc-folk," used to describe an advanced breed of orc first bred by Sauron and later by Saruman. Treebeard, the Ent, thought that Saruman had cross-bred orcs and men to create the Uruk-hai, and this reference was probably the one intended in the descriptive text.
