Training Mode, is a gameplay mode in Tactics Ogre: Let us Cling Together (SNES/PSX), Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber, and Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis.

As its name implies, Training Mode allows for characters to engage in mock battles for experience. Units that are "killed" during training mode do not die.

Training mode functions the same way in both Tactics Ogre entries in the series. The player's forces can distributed between two teams and engage in a battle with each other. The battle takes place at whichever map Denam or Alphonse are currently positioned at.

Each team can be set to player or AI controlled.

Experience gained during training mode is equivalent to experience in normal battles, i.e. depending on the level of the attacker and target.

Training mode was not included in the PSP remake of Let Us Cling Together.

Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber[]

Training Mode in Person of Lordly Caliber

Training Mode in Person of Lordly Caliber functions differently than other games. The player selects one unit in their battalion, which will engage in battle with a CPU opponent. The enemies scale to player levels, but their class and formation vary depending on the player's current location on the World Map.

Unlike standard battles, training battles will continue until one side is wiped out. In addition, the following are disabled during training:

Training also costs Goth, with price depending on player level and location.
