The attack on Golyat was an event that took place one year before the setting of Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together, but has a major influence on the plot.

Events[]

In the dead of night, a Walister port town named Golyat was attacked by a large band of Lodissian Knights. Leading the invasion were the elite legion Dark Knights Loslorien.

Prancet Led Away

Lodissian knights lead Prancet away.

Golyat was no military outpost, but a settlement of Walister civilians. Scores of men, women, and children were slaughtered in the space of one night. Large parts of the town were also torched.

An abuna from the town, Prancet Pavel, was abducted by the Lodissians. As time went on with no news, he was presumed killed.

Three youth survivors - Denam Pavel, Catiua Pavel, and Vyce Bozeck - would go on to play a pivotal role in shaping Valeria's future.

Official Statements[]

Loslorien claimed that the attack was prompted by intelligence that members of a rebel group were hiding out in the town. They would also say it turned out to be a false lead.

When faced with survivors of the massacre a year later, Lanselot Tartaros would even go so far as to offer a personal apology. Lodis eventually paid reparations for the attack.

True Intentions[]

It was eventually learned that Lodis' main objective was to capture abuna Pavel. The reason behind the bloodshed appears to be little more than to smoke out their target as quickly as possible.

At the time, Loslorien were searching Valeria for the illegitimate daughter of the late King Dorgalua. The abuna, who was hiding out under a false name, had knowledge of her whereabouts.

Loslorien's ultimate goal was to install the Princess as a puppet monarch over Valeria, in order to broaden their control over the Isles.

It was once believed that Loslorien desired the Princess to break a royal blood seal over a Chaos Gate beneath the Hanging Gardens. However, this was a lie of senior knights Tartaros and Balxephon to keep their subordinates distracted. With the stolen sword Brynhildr in their possession, they already had the tools necessary to open the gate.

Aftermath[]

After the end of the Heim Conflict, and two years since the massacre, a monument to peace was erected in Golyat. Its construction was commissioned by Queen Versalia, in memorial of those died in the attack.

Golyat is said to have recovered swiftly. It was known as Oberon's Pearl before the massacre, and it may reclaim that honor.
