The Rogue is a new class added to the PSP version of Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together. This class can be used by humans, faeries and gremlins.

A very useful, but difficult to obtain class. Boasting the best speed score of any generic class in the game, and skills to further increase speed and mobility. They're also the only class in the game who can steal items from enemies.

Overview[]

  • Weapon type: Fist, Dagger, Hammer*, Blowgun, Bow*, Crossbow, Thrown.
  • Armor type: Medium armor, Shields.

One of the most useful generic classes in the game, excelling in speed, damage output, utility and versatility all at the same time. Nonetheless, they are also one of the most fragile melee classes in the game, despite the fact that they can equip the higher end shields; this makes them rely heavily on evasion for survival, making melee dangerous at the start.

The Rogue is the only class in the game capable of using Steal, which is extremely useful to obtain of rare items and classmarks from enemies, but it's also tedious and slow to rank up.

Their Sneak Attack and Sparagmos abilities are powerful, but most of all they are one of the fastest units in the game, because their cost of movement is so low: Only 3RT/square, compared to the 4 or 5 of most classes. Speedstar makes them even faster, allowing them to get many turns in. Sneak Attack only works with melee, so equip your Rogue appropietely if you intend to use this skill, Daggers are their best weapon options.

They have access to 4 Familiar skills, but only Fairies and Gremlins share both classes - Agonal Scream and Lingering Kiss are two skills worth the effort, however.

Ultimately, the choice is between role and race:

  • For melee attackers, choose humans for better VIT and survivability, forego defense and use equip and skills that boost evasion, always set Sneak Attack as your primary action skill, try to enter the fray after quickening (either from Speedstar or Boon of Swiftness), and equip daggers for higher damage.
  • For robbers, choose humans for the same reasons as before, forego attack and spend all skill slots in defensive skills and Speedstar, and use equipment that increases defense or evasion (pick just one to maximize the effect). Also try to cripple your targets with ailments before stealing so it goes easier.
  • For support and ranged attackers, choose fairies or gremlins for slightly better speed and unique support skills, and either give them crossbows if you want them as attackers, or blowguns if you rather have them stay as far as possible from the enemy.

Classmarks can be dropped or stolen from enemy Rogues, and later bought from Deneb's Shop (during Chapter 4 and CODA).
