Richard Glendale, also known as Richard the Dragonheart, is a non-playable character in Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber.

He is the head of the Caliginous Order, and as such, leads one of the 16 regions of the Holy Lodissian Empire. His leadership trust includes veteran knight Thamus Delville, and his younger brother, Baldwin Glendale. Richard has an esteemed reputation as a knight, and is said to have inherited his father's talents.

Richard sought the ultimate power to see Lodis conquer and rule the world. However, he was betrayed and slain by his brother before he could obtain it.

Personality

Richard always acts the part of the man in control. He is very commanding and arrogant, and has no qualms about exploiting the weak. He is firm in his belief that Lodis has the divine right to rule the world, which he looks down on as "chaotic" and "heretic".

As a commander and knight, he is a perfectionist who never lets emotions interfere with his job. He holds his subordinates to similarly harsh standards, and doesn't mince words, even towards his own brother.

Despite his outer behavior, Richard does have moments of weakness, but is too disciplined to let them show before others. He was remorseful over Thamuz's death, but behaved impassively while the mission was ongoing. His dying words also speak of warmer feelings for his brother, who he only treated coldly in life.
