Reputation is a game mechanic in Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen. The bar located on the right hand side of the battlefield screen, the Reputation Meter is a visual determination of the player's current total. Reputation has many effects on gameplay, including:
- Recruiting characters.
- Endings.
- Items given by NPCs.
Reputation can be raised by:
- Liberating towns, determined by the liberating unit's average alignment and class makeup. Liberating Roshian Temples and hidden towns have no effect.
- Various dialogue choices. An example is agreeing to find the Golden Beehive for Posha.
- Drawing a Lovers card after the liberation of a town or temple.
- Drawing a Temperance card after the liberation of a town or temple.
- Drawing a Fortune card after the liberation of a town or temple. However, the Fortune card randomly adds between -3 to +3 points.
Reputation can be lowered by:
- Drawing a Devil card after the liberation of a town or temple.
- Drawing a Death card after the liberation of a town or temple.
- Drawing a Fortune card after the liberation of a town or temple. However, the Fortune card randomly adds between -3 to +3 points.
- Various dialogue choices. An example is forgiving Deneb for her crimes on the Deneb's Garden stage.
- Having a liberated town or temple retaken by an enemy unit.
- Idling on a stage for a large number of days collecting tribute.
- the Rebel Base was taken by the Empire! Opinion Rebel Forces have to retreat (Leaving map during stage)
