- "A crude race with limited intellect. The lizarman and lamia are two of the more common examples."
- — LUCT PSP Description
The Reptile are a race of humanoid people resembling reptilians. They excel at swimming and water-based combat, almost to the extent of Mermaids. Their hides act as an extra layer of armor, which makes them quite resilent in battle.
Most are ferocious, and attack passerbys on instinct alone, but this does not mean they are unintelligent. Some have been able to learn the human tongue, and even befriend and live among humans. Still, they're not as capable of coexistance as the Winged.
Unlike other species, male and female reptiles have very distinct appareances. The male Lizardman looks like a cross between human and the homonymous animal, while the female Lamia has an humanoid look save for their snake hair and snake tails that go from the waist down.
As of the Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together remake, they lack any story relevance.
Lizardmen are completely absent from this game, but Gorgons can be found and recruited in battle. See page for class details.
The second-easiest demi-human race to recruit, only behind the Winged. With the reworked class system, the Reptile can change between a limited amount of classes, including some exclusive ones.
Despite being classified in the same category, Lizardmen and Lamia have different stats and some classes unavailable to each other. In general, Lamia have better stats and options for magic classes, while Lizarmen have better stats and options for physical classes. Sadly, both are overshadowed by more common human classes, plus the fact that they are a bit harder to recruit than humans and winged means that most players don't bother training a Reptile.
Still, they have some redeeming qualities. In particular the Matriarch/Patriarch class possibly the first class capable of using Summons reliably, and a powerful spellcaster on its own; since you need a Lich to recruit Orcs in the first place, you're better off recruiting a Reptile for this class unless you are willing to wait.
