- "Attaining knighthood, he has the ability to draw magical power out of his sword."
- — Description
The Paladin is a class in Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen, Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber and a special class in Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together. Usually defenders of the faith, or members of knightly orders, the paladin is set apart from his knight brothers in that he possesses magical ability.
The keepers of justice and order within the kingdom of Hyland, the proud Paladins had served long before the events of the Xenobian Rebellion on Xytegenia. When they discovered the truth behind the motivations of Rashidi their entire order was executed. The Paladin Gawain and a select few were saved by the warriors of Fort Mattle. The survivors led a party to the Temple Shalina to stop Rashidi from summoning Diablo but all were slain with the exception of Gawain who lay wounded in a Roshfel temple. Rauny Vinzalf was the first woman to become a Paladin in the order, though her in-game character class is Muse to accommodate a sprite which is female in appearance.
The Paladin has the appearance of a knight in golden armor, wearing a red cape, and wielding a sword and shield. A high alignment class, The Paladin is both a powerful defender and attacker. In the back row they can be used for additional healing or undead slaying.
