Necromancy is a special spell type featured in Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together, heavily associated with the undead. Limited to a plot device in the SNES/PS version, it can be used by the Necromancer and Lich classes in the PSP version.
Necromancy spells are centered around supporting undead units, affecting stilled or incapacitated units, inflicting special ailments and damaging with Dark Magic. The Grimoires needed to learn these spells are mostly bought from the Shop inside the Palace of the Dead (Floors 24, 65 and 103), and as drops from generic and story enemies in the Palace of the Dead, Pirate's Graveyard and San Bronsa Ruins.
Similar to Draconic Magic, War Dances and Ninjutsu, Necromancy spells have a sundry cost in addition to the MP cost. These sundries can be bought from Deneb's Shop.
History[]
Necromancy features heavily in the story of Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together.
During Chapter 1, Denam will be sent to capture Nybeth Obdilord, a Galgastani necromancer who had been sent to guard Almorica Castle from the Walister Resistance and whose experiments have brought severe damage to the town of Krysaro. Nybeth fights Denam's party and, despite being cornered, manages to escape. He won't make further appearances in the story until much later.
Necromancy will remain in the background during the Lawful and Chaotic Routes. In the Neutral Route however necromancy takes a major role with the presence of playable characters Oelias and Dievold Obdilord, and the return of Nybeth.
During Chapter 4, the Bakram necromancer Reymos will capture Ocionne Rabine, the last Wyrmcaller; she's later saved and joins Denam's Order.
Necromancy returns to the forefront during the Palace of the Dead subquest, which is filled with Necromancers, Liches and Undead enemies, some past characters returning as undeads, and the end of Nybeth's storyline.
PSP Only[]
A special subquest was added in this version, "The Balmamusa Dead". During Chapter 4 of the Chaotic Route, the player may return to Balmamusa, triggering a special encounter with Nybeth and his daughter Cressida Obdilord; this will result in a battle against several undead units, including Vyce Bozeck. If Cressida survives, and the player has completed certain requisites, she may join the party.
