Magnus Gallant, also known as the Paladin King, is the main protagonist in Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber. Son of Ankiseth Gallant, father of Aeneas Gallant, and childhood friend of Yumil Dulmare.

Story

Early Life

Magnus Gallant is recruited into the Southern Division, against the wishes of Yumil. He hopes to flee the alleged villainy of his father, who slays the assassin hired to kill the Royal Family. Becoming the leader of a battalion known as the Blue Knights, Magnus recruits Diomedes Rangue and Leia Silvis as lieutenants. Developing an intense rivalry with Rhade, Magnus rescues him, Jeal, and Prince Yumil from the rebels at Volmus Mine. He also assists the rebel leader Asnabel Birall at Gunther Piedmont, eventually paving the way for him rescuing Frederick Raskin, leader of the Palatinean Revolutionary Army and becoming its leading General.

Revolutionary Army

Battling the Western Division, Magnus quickly becomes the enemy of Lodis and fights to halt the resurrection of Danika, a demon goddess. Succeeding, he places Frederick on the throne, leads in the battle against the neighboring Barbarian Tribes, and subsequently becomes King of Palatinus, seceded by his only son, Aeneas.
