— Lanselot Hamilton

Lanselot Hamilton, also known as the Holy Knight, is a knight of Xenobia in Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen and a recruitable character in Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together.

He is captain of the Xenobian Holy Knights, and wields a long sword named Lombardia.

Story[]

Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen[]

Early Life[]

Lanselot was born in the city of Valna in Charlom and later became a knight of Xenobia. He fought during the great war between the Sacred Xytegenian Empire and Xenobia. While he was escorting refuges his wife became ill and died. He contemplated suicide, but the melody of a music box his wife owned as a keepsake gave him the strength to continue living.

For the Rebellion[]

Lanselot was told by Warren Omon to wait in the city of Zeltenia for the leader of the rebellion to meet him. He was unsure that any man could restore Xenobia, but one look in the eyes of Destin Faroda was all he needed to believe. He pledged his loyalty to Destin and became one of his generals.

The rebellion eventually liberated his hometown of Valna. At nearby Jindark, Lanselot killed the former bandit leader and current governor Usar, the man who had slain one of Lanselot's comrades in a previous battle.

When the Empire was defeated, Lanselot had grown to admire the leader of the rebellion so much so that he confided in Warren that if Tristan were not king he would still serve Destin.

Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together[]

Warren Report[]

He came to Valeria to recover the sword Brynhildr at the behest of King Tristan of Xenobia.

He was captured in the Bakram invasion of Rhime, and imprisoned in the dungeon of Heim Castle. It appears he was moved from there before the fall of Heim. There has been no word from him since.

Personality[]

Lanselot is the epitome of the selfless and chivalrous knight. He is unequivocally loyal to his King and homeland, but most of all, fights to protect the common people. Though the death of his wife nearly broke him, he was able to refocus and dedicate his life to pursuing peace for the masses. He also has a humble view of himself, not being afraid to confess his fears or weaknesses.

After encountering the Golyat trio in Valeria, the seasoned knight took on a mentor role to the greenhorn Denam. He imparted on him more than just battlefield matters, but the importance of one's own life and future.
