The Knights of Danika, are a legion of four knights, legendary to the history of Palatinus.
Legend[]
According to the legend, the knights accompanied the king of Palatinus into the Netherworld to rescue Danika, his daughter by the Goddess Berthe. The king are said to have defeated Demundza, God of the Netherworld, and freed Danika, allowing her return heaven. The knights were blessed by Berthe for their deeds, and given the title Knights of Danika.
True History[]
In truth, Danika was never freed from the Netherworld. She had eaten fruit of the realm during her captivity, and became irrevocably corrupted with darkness. This event was one catalyst leading to the Ogre Battle of legend.
Feeling pity for their daughter, Bertha and the king divided Danika's body into five parts. Her limbs became the four Knights of Danika, while her torso and soul remained in a deep sleep. The knights purpose was to prevent Danika's sleep from being disturbed.
At a later time, the knights came into contact with Virago Dulmare, who would go on to unify Palatinus and be known as the Progenitor. Through a pact, they granted him the ultimate power he needed to conquer the land, in exchange for one of his descendants.
Palatinean Revolution[]
In the midst of the conflict, the Chaos Gate hidden beneath the Temple of Berthe was opened by Prince Yumil, the Progenitor's chosen descendant. This summoned the Knights of Danika into the Prince's control, and he used their power to overthrow the rule of his father, King Procus.
When the Revolutionary Army marched on Latium, the knights battled with the Blue Knights, but were defeated.
