Jeal Veritte is a non-playable character in Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber. He has the distinction of being the first Black Knight the player meets, though he is not fought until much later in the game.
Jeal is an elite member of the Central Division of the Palatinean Army. He is a man of few words, often seen accompanying Eurynome Rhade. While he does not share Rhade's hot temper, he is no less ruthless in his attitude towards enemies of the kingdom.
During the early stages of the conflict, Jeal was present in the Southern Region as an escort to Prince Yumil. He took part in the attempted execution of the captured rebel, Qad. However, an ambush saw him paralyzed by Saradim Carm, allowing the prisoner's rescue. He was later deployed to the Eastern region, where he was killed by the Blue Knights at Fair Heights.
