Gildas W. Byrne is a playable character in Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together. He is a White Knight, and member of the Holy Knights of Xenobia. He is recruitable in the Lawful and Chaotic routes.

Gildas W. Byrne. Age 32.
A Xenobian born in the Highland city of Xandu who once served with the Holy Knights of the Kingdom of New Xenobia.
A lover of drink and women, chivalry is not his strong point. However, he is also a dependable comrade who fights with great skill.
After The Attack on Rhime[]
Like the Holy Knight Lanselot, he was banished from Xenobia for misconduct. He joined the Walister Resistance after aiding Denam in freeing Duke Ronwey from his imprisonment at Almorica Castle. He was garrisoned in Rhime when the Bakram invaded. Though he fought well, he was overcome by superior numbers. Since then, he has not been seen or heard from.
After Recruitment[]
He came to Valeria with the Holy Knight Lanselot to recover the sword Brynhildr at the behest of King Tristan of Xenobia.
The Bakram took him prisoner when they invaded Rhime. He later escaped with the Star Seer Warren Omon and Sir Mirdyn, and was reunited with Denam.

After Port Asyton[]
He was later seen in Port Asyton, but his current whereabouts are unknown.
After Ndamsa Fortress[]
He lost his life defending Rhime from the Bakram invasion. He was raised by the Necromancer Nybeth, but perished a second time at Ndamsa Fortress, setting his soul free.
Personality[]
Gildas' manner is quite raucous and rough around the edges. In the Xenobian group, he often ends up bickering with Canopus in particular. Despite his lack of social grace, he's an honorable and brave man.
As an undead, he ceased to have his own will. However, his reason briefly returned before his final death. Rather than despair at his situation, he expressed relief that Denam, the man he initially died protecting, was safe.
