The General is a special class in Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen and Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber. Generals are the leaders of legions, and as such are both formidable warriors and tacticians.
Legend of Ogre Battle Gaiden: Prince of Zenobia features General as a normal class. They can be promoted from Knights at level 16 or higher, with Charisma and Alignment of at least 60 each.

Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen[]
The General has the appearance of a blond haired warrior wielding a massive two handed sword behind his back. A powerful front row fighter, the General is equaled only in power with the Dragoons. The only two playable characters that are Generals are Tristan and Debonair. Debonair differs only in his recruiting options and that his back row attack does not hurt him when he uses it. The enemy bosses Figaro, Previa and Luvalon are also Generals.
Legend of Ogre Battle Gaiden: Prince of Zenobia[]
Generals (ジェネラル) provide a fourth promotion option for Knights, alongside Paladins, Dragoons, and Vampires. Generals stand above Paladins in terms of stat growth and resistances, albeit without the ability to cast Healing. However, the General's resistances still come up short compared to the Dragoon's.
The General's recruits are quite impressive, providing easy access to Knights, Mermaids, Mages, Shamans, and Samurai. However, given that there will already be one General leader in the player's army (Tristan), that may be little reason to promote any others.
Tristan is automatically promoted to General at Stage 7. The enemy leader of the Wind Dunes secret stage is a General named The Baron.
