The Orc, originally named the Goblin, is a playable class introduced in Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together and later appearing in Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber. They are also mentioned in Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis.

They are demonic humanoids with horns on their foreheads that are said to be descended from Ogres. They are associated with the Netherworld and frequently work for their ogre ancestors.

Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together (Original)[]

Goblins can only be found in the Palace of the Dead where they can recruited. Like other demi humans, goblins are their own class; the goblin class has tanky stats and high movement(equal to Ninjas and Hawkmen). Their preferred weapon type is Hammers.

Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber.[]

Goblins appear as basic demon troops that wield swords and wear armor. They are commonly seen in demon armies and contrary to their description saying they possess "superhuman strength and endurance" are a fairly basic class. Goblins can be recruited either by rarely finding them in the wild or by using Love and Peace on an enemy unit.

Goblins resemble their prior counterparts but have two horns and possess blue or red hair. The story shows it is possible for humans to turn into goblins.

Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis[]

A rare helm in the game is the Goblin Helm which gives powerful stats and the bane element. This implies Goblins are good at forging similar to their Ogre relatives.

Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together (PSP)[]

Goblins have been renamed Orcs as of this installment. Like all Demi humans, Orcs now have a wide variety of classes to choose from and their original creature class has been turned into Juggernaut. Orcs have an extremely large amount of classes to choose from compared to other demi humans within the game. They also appear in much more locations as opposed to just being in the Palace of the Dead.

However like all Umbra, orcs must be recruited with a Lich's demon's Pact and the earliest one can get access to the Demon's pact is by recruiting a Lich at the Ripples of Grief battle at the Pirate's Graveyard.

There is an enemy exclusive orc with a bright blue hue that is found in several later encounters and dungeons called the Uruk. The Uruk acts as a variant of the Juggernaut class.

  • Given the series inspiration from Queen, orcs may be inspired by the "Ogre Men" mentioned in the Ogre Battle song.
