— Description

The Dragon Tamer is a class in Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis, Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen, Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber and Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together. Where there is a dragon on the field of battle, there is often a dragon tamer behind it, giving it orders.

This class was combined with the Beast Tamer class in the PSP version of Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together. See page for details.

Appearances[]

Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen[]

The Dragoner has the appearance of a brown-haired man in blue tights, with a drake skull for a helmet, wielding a rapier. A versatile unit that can be used in either row, the Dragoner also boosts the power of dragons within its unit. When the Dragoner reaches Level 20, has a Charisma 60+, and an Alignment 40-60, it can be promoted into a Dragon Master.

Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber[]

A female only unit, the Dragon Tamer has the appearance of a brown-haired woman in blue tights, with a drake skull for a helmet, wielding a rapier. The Dragon Tamer also boosts the power of dragons within its unit. Upgrades into a Dragon Master.

Recruitment[]

Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis[]

Female human units with 140 HP, 14 MP, and a killcount of 1 or less dragons can be classed as Dragon Tamers. Recruitable enemy Dragon Tamers can also appear in the following locations:

Overview[]

Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis[]

  • Favored Weapon: Rapier.
  • Favored Armor: Shields, Light Armor.

The Dragon Tamer is a female-only class, counterpart to the Beast Tamer. Despite being a melee class, they can employ Missile-type elemental spells and enjoy high mobility, however their stat growths leave a lot to be desired.

Their highlight is their passive +1 Mental Gauge bonus to ally dragons standing within 3 tiles of distance. This allows dragons to perform overall better in combat as long as they stay within the Dragon Tamer's distance.

Sadly, the Dragon Tamer by herself is a weak class with only a gimmicky function; not even their high mobility and melee-magic combination guarantees them a spot in the party, as the Valkyrie overshadows them in all of those characteristics. At most, they may be worth keeping around during Chapter 1 (Spring) and in dragon-heavy parties, but that's it.
