Andoras Gaffryn is a non-playable character in Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together.
He is a member of Dark Knights Loslorien, and serves as an antagonist late in the game. Unusually though, he is not a native Lodissian, but a Bolmoccan, hailing from the former Kingdom of Nidahme, conquered by Lodis.
In Bolmoccan style, he favors hand-to-hand combat with minimal weapons and armor.
Warren Report[]
The Dark Knight Andoras.
Andoras Gaffryn. Age 32.
A Loslorien commander from Niemaran, a small town on the borderlands of Lodis. He was last born of the former Nidahme royal house, which once wielded great power throughout the Sea of Lhai region.
He prefers hand-to-hand combat to swordplay, and is a masterful strategist.
After the Hanging Gardens[]
The Holy Lodissian Empire saw the bountiful lands of the Kingdom of Nidahme as ripe for the taking. They staged an uprising amongst the enslaved masses from which the ruling house had fattened their purse, then sent in their armies. Fearing for his life, the King hastily abandoned all resistance and yielded to the Lodissians. Since then, the Bolmoccans have endured lives of servitude.
Andoras still harbored resentment towards Lodis for destroying his homeland, and he joined Sir Martym and Sir Barbas in revolt against the Dark Knights leadership. They took possession of Brunhildr and fled to the Hanging Gardens, but were slain there by the Resistance.
Personality[]
Despite fighting in the manner of a berserker, Andoras is remarkably relaxed on the battlefield. He even engages in bizarrely lighthearted banter with his bemused enemies. He's also not as easily roused to anger as most of the other Dark Knights. Though he bears a deep grudge towards Lodis for the destruction of his family and homeland, he's able to keep it hidden.
His scene in CODA suggests that he does have some resentment towards himself for the bloody life he leads.
Trivia[]
- Upon meeting Andoras, Canopus tries to compare him with his friend Gilbert, who submitted to the Xytegenian Empire out of necessity to protect his people. However, he's left disgusted when Andoras claims to harbor no attachment to his subjugated homeland, and pledges his allegiance to Lodis in all honesty.
Death Quote[]
- "Wait... Denam, listen. The Nidahme perished... Like these islands, our people... failed to join as one. It is only... a matter of time before... Lodis invades. You must make... Valeria... strong. Like a rock..."
